What is a C.R.C.?
A Collision Reporting Centre is a Police facility created to assist motorists in reporting motor
vehicle collision in the Greater Toronto Area.
Actions to be taken by all drivers before attending a Collision Reporting Centre
- Check the "exception list" to ensure the police is NOT required.
- IF it is safe to do so, remove vehicles from the roadway
- Exchange information with the other involved parties, including independent witnesses (names,
addresses, phone numbers, insurance and vehicle particulars)
- As soon a s possible, attend with your vehicle at the C.R.C. servicing the police district in
which the accident occurred. (Refer to the maps below)
- Bring your documentation with you to the C.R.C. (driver's licence, ownership and insurance).

Does the C.R.C. take Fail to Remain Accident Reports?
Yes - The C.R.C. will take fail to remain reports.
A police unit will be dispatched if the suspect vehicle is still in the area of the accident.
What are the hours of operation at the C.R.C.'s?
The Collision Reporting Centres are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, the exception of being the Port
Credit Ontario Provincial Police CRCR which is open each day from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
When would driver attend a C.R.C.?
With the following exceptions, any driver involved in a property damage accident can report the
accident at a C.R.C. (police units will be dispatched to the scene when one or more of the following
situations apply).
- Accident involves injury or death;
- Involved vehicles require towing* or are unsafe to drive;
- Criminal activity involved in accident (e.g. impaired driving, stolen vehicle, assault etc.);
- Accidents involving Federal, Provincial or Municipal vehicles (including T.T.C);
- Accidents involving vehicles transporting dangerous goods;
- Accidents involving a person who is uninsured or a suspended driver;
- Accident involving damage to private, municipal or highway property.
Highway Traffic Act requires all accidents in which there are injuries, damage over $700.00 or
damage to any highway property to be reported to police.

* North York C.R.C. will accept towed in vehicles from North York
accident locations and provincial highways
policed by the OPP. Towed vehicles must go directly to the C.R.C. from the accident location.
